Our April meeting will feature a listening session based on Little Known but Important Musicians. Members will bring samples of musicians who, in the past 5 - 10 years, have had an important impact but are not widely known in the music industry. Meeting to be held in Killingworth, CT.

October 7, 2023 - Wyn Palmer Discusses His Pyxi Phono Preamp

The October meeting featured Wyn Palmer, Senior Fellow at Analog Devices, who discussed the design philosophy of his highly regarded Pyxi Phono Preamp sold by SOTA Turntables. Palmer discussed the preamp design goals and provided insight into the importance of reducing high order harmonic distortions that the ear can detect even at low levels. Meeting was held via Zoom for members and invited guests. August 5, 2023 - Singer/Songwriters of the 1950's to the Present

Our August meeting covered singer/songwriters from the 1950's to the present. Artists included individuals to small groups who played in small-scale venues. Members brought a number of excellent recordings and music videos along with 1-2 minute artist summaries. The meeting was open and conversational, providing members a chance to find new artists for their collections. Meeting was held in Stamford, CT.

Jun 3, 2023 - Bill Pauluh: History of the 45 RPM

Our June in-person meeting featured Bill Pauluh who presented a fascinating history of the 45 RPM record format. Bill shared a wealth of knowledge about this format, its extended history and some of the key challenges and milestones along the way. Meeting held in Avon, CT.

April 1, 2023 - Rich Capeless Listening Session

Our April in-person meeting featured Rich Capeless curating a Rudy Van Gelder listening session. Rich played a selection of Rudy Van Gelder music demonstrating Van Gelder's recording techniques. Meeting held in Greenwich, CT.

February 2, 2023 - Nick Bergh and Luke Pacholski Present

Nick Bergh and Luke Pacholski presented a history of Robert Johnson recordings and recording techniques. Robert Johnson created landmark recordings in his short 7 month career and is considered a master of Delta Blues. This meeting offered an excellent opportunity to learn more about this ground-breaking blues musician and his influence on modern music. Meeting was be held via Zoom for club members and guests.

November 12, 2022 - Annual Holiday Meeing

This year, the Connecticut Audio Society held its Annual Holiday Meeting in November. The meeting featured a listening session based on music selections by our meeting host. In addition, we elected our 2023 Board members and held an equipment auction with a portion of funds going to charity. Meeting was held in Killingworth, CT.

October 15, 2022 - Listening Session - Re-releases and Remasters

CAS members came together in Avon, CT to listen to re-releases and remasters of well-respected recordings. The group focused on how these reissued items affected the sound and musicality of the releases.

September 3, 2022 - Barry Diament of Soundkeeper Recordings

Garry Diament spoke to the membership via Zoom about his approach to recording authentic sounds at Soundkeeper Recordings. 

August 6, 2022 - Member DIY and Restorations Showcase

CAS members shared their DIY projects and equipment restorations including amplifiers, loudspeakers and DACs. The meeting also featured our annual BBQ. Meeting was held in Killingworth, CT.

June 18, 2022 - In-Person Listening Session and Equipment Sale

CAS members met in-person after almost two years due to COVID. The meeting was held at St. Paul's Church in Fairfield, CT. Members brought equipment, CDs and other items of interest to sell. We also had a high quality system set up and enjoyed a thoroughly fun afternoon. It was great to see everyone again in person. Meeting was held in Fairfield, CT.

November 13, 2021 - Bill Paulah Part 3

Bill Pauluh had so much information to share in his presentations that we're going to have a part 3 w with CAS member Tom Fine moderating the discussion. The discussion will also bridge the analog to digital future. The meeting will be held via Zoom and is open to CAS members and guests only.

CAS is pleased to host speaker Bill Paulah, who has been working very hard for months on an excellent presentation on the evolution of record mastering. He will be sharing secrets and knowledge from decades in the recording industry. This meeting will be held on Zoom and is open for club members and guests.

April 3, 2021 - Paul Barton, Founder of PSB Loudspeakers

March 6, 2021 - John Atkinson of Stereophile

John Atkinson is currently Technical Editor of Stereophile, after several decades as the editor.  He joined CAS in person in 2013 for our 30th anniversary meeting. He will join us via Zoom to share his insights. This meeting is open for CAS members and invited guests only.

February 6, 2021 - Merril Wettasinghe of Merrill Advanced Audio Technologies

Merrill Wettasinghe of Merrill Audio Advanced Technologies Labs will present on "Why Class A amplifiers are Good, and the Challenges of GaN Transistors." The meeting will be a Zoom presentation and is open for club members and guests only.

January 9, 2021 - Michael Fremer

Michael Fremer, editor of analogPlanet.com and Stereophile senior contributing editor will conduct a question and answer session with club members. Meeting will be held by Zoom and is open to club members and guests only.
