The hard working guys in the program development department (Mike and Walt) have sent me an advanced warning for our next meeting. We have had a similar meeting to this in the past and it was a lot of fun. The April 14, 2007 meeting to be held at a member's home in Newtown, CT.  The topic will be a listening session, specifically 2 song sets (including covers).  Members are encouraged to bring 2 songs to play (in CD, LP or SACD format) that relate to each other in some way.  Typical sets could be an original and cover versions of the same song, two songs related by lyrical or musical content, or songs derived from or referencing another song. Members are encouraged to bring materials that are musically interesting and will be asked to give a brief intro to the material.  If time allows, members may be allowed to play a second two song set, so bring extra material if you'd like.

 

All our meetings start around 12 noon, and begin with CAS supplied lunch and informal chat among the members.  At 1 p.m., the formal meeting begins with a brief business meeting and then moves on to the topic of the day. Meetings are usually quite informal, with anywhere from 20-40 members in attendance. Meetings typically last most of the afternoon.
